DESCRIPTION The mountains surrounding Daecheong Lake and its crystal clear waters create an extraordinary landscape. Places worth visiting around the lake include an adjacent park, the Daecheong Dam Water Culture Center, a memorial hall, and an observation deck. The lakeside road is ideal for a leisurely drive spent admiring the fabulous view along the lake against a backdrop of surrounding mountains and forests.

DESCRIPTION Hanbat Arboretum, the largest garden in the central region, is an artificial facility created in an urban area. The arboretum consists of the Sensitivity Park, the Forest of Contemplation, a wetland, an eco forest, a shrub garden, and the Rose of Sharon Hill among its many attractions. Other facilities include the South Gate Plaza, walking trails, ponds, and sports facilities.

DESCRIPTION As part of a project for increasing tourism to Yuseong Spa, the largest outdoor foot spa in Korea was opened in 2007. It is equipped with a covered pavilion so that visitors can enjoy foot spa even on rainy days. The foot spa is free for everyone.

In Daejeon cuisine, garak-guksu are thick wheat noodles and noodle dishes made with thick noodles
Sung Sim Dang is a popular bakery that originally opened in 1956, and is located in front of Daejeon Station. It was listed in the Michelin Guide Korea for the first time in 2011. The bakery creates over 400 types of breads.

Daejeon Science Festival

DESCRIPTION Daejeon Science Festival is a science and culture festival held in Daejeon, the city of science and technology. Leading research centers funded by the government, universities, and companies specializing in cutting-edge technology located in the aedeok R&D Special District participate in the festival to exhibit science and technology related contents, helping the people of Korea to understand the importance of science and children to develop an interest in science. With the theme of ‘Life Science’ the festival helps visitors to understand and experience science and technology in everyday life, allowing them to think about the importance of science in creating a better world.
